Deprecated: Call Indexer

As of version 16.0.100, the Call Indexer service was removed. All users are advised to discontinue use of this service, either by uninstalling it, or permanently disabling it.

In order to use the Tuner, you must first obtain data in the form of .callsre files generated by the Speech Engine and client applications (see the Engine documentation for information about generating these files).

The .callsre files contain a variety of information about each interaction with the Engine: which grammars were used, what the results of each decode was, various Engine settings, etc.

This page describes how to obtain these files using the Call Indexer service. You can also manually obtain and load .callsre files.

The simplest way to obtain .callsre on a regular basis is to use the LumenVox Call Indexer service. This is an application that needs to be installed on each machine that saves .callsre files. On Windows, it is automatically installed (and added to the Windows services menu) with the Speech Engine package. On Linux, it is installed with the LumenVoxClient package and is run from a script in /etc/init.d/ called lvcallindexerd

Since .callsre files are saved client-side, if you have your speech client running on a separate machine from the Speech Engine process, you must install the Indexer on each client machine.

While running, the Call Indexer will monitor the directory where .callsre files are being generated. You can then set up the Speech Tuner to talk to the Indexer, making any .callsre files available automatically when you launch the Tuner. It provides an easy way to manage speech applications spread across a variety of machines.

Adding Indexed Machines to the Tuner

To add a new machine and indexing service to the Tuner, start the Tuner and go to the Summary screen. In the Platforms window, right-click and choose Add Machine.

In the dialogue box that appears, enter a descriptive Name for the computer and its IP Address and click OK.

Data from that computer will now be loaded into the Tuner, and will be evident in the Summary screen.

On your next use of the Tuner, click the Rescan button for the Tuner to check the remote machines for a report of interaction files on them.
