Licensing

LumenVox is one of the most flexible providers of speech recognition software licenses in the industry. In keeping with our overall philosophy of superior service and adaptability we're able to license our software in a variety of ways. Per–Port Licensing

The most common license for LumenVox ASR, TTS, and Answering Machine Detection software is on a per–port or per–channel basis. For a telephony application such as an IVR or PBX, the solution would require one license for each channel that used the LumenVox software. If an IVR solution had 96 lines that used speech recognition, 96 licenses would be required.

Subscriptions

Customers who license LumenVox on a per–port basis can choose to either purchase ports on a permanent basis or take advantage of our subscription licensing. With a LumenVox subscription, the speech software is installed on the customer premise but licenses are hosted by LumenVox. Licenses are still per–port, but the initial cost is lower than purchasing a license outright, and software updates are included as part of the subscription. Subscriptions offer flexibility for users who are building proof of concept systems, or need a large number of licenses for a short period of time, as they enable customers to build speech applications with a lower capital investment.

Use–Based Licensing

An alternative to per–port licenses is our use–based licensing system. Under this system, license costs are calculated by the amount the speech software is used. Usage measure can include a per–minute rate or a per–interaction rate.

Bursting

One of the most compelling use cases for this type of licensing is for applications that require "bursting." These are solutions that require a relatively stable number of speech resources, but have certain peak periods where demand is much higher than normal. As an example, a business may be much busier during a certain part of the day, and need extra channels for an IVR only a few hours a day. In that case, a use–based licensing approach for the overage can be the most sensible way to license LumenVox software.

Software as a Service

All of the above licensing options are available as a premise–based deployment or hosted Software as a Service (SaaS) model. The LumenVox hosted SaaS option is accessed via the Internet using a web services method or the Media Resource Control Protocol (MRCP).
