Uninstalling Licenses

If you are using version 8.5 of the License Server or newer, you may uninstall your licenses.

Note: if you installed your licenses or License Server before May 2008, you must first upgrade your license before removing it. To upgrade a license, first ensure you have installed the 8.5 (or later) version of the License server. Then go to the LumenVox customers site and, in the "My Licenses" section, choose to upgrade a deployment by clicking the "Advanced" link next to the deployment.

This will reset the deployment for upgrade. You will then generate a new Info.bts file from your 8.5 (or later) License Server. Upload that file for the deployment, and you will be able to now download an upgraded license file. If you have multiple deployments installed on a machine, you will need to go through this process for every deployment. If the license files you download from the Web site do not have _r2.bts at the end of their file names, they are of the old type and must be upgraded.

You only need to upgrade license types if you wish to uninstall your licenses. If you are just upgrading to a new version of the License Server, you should not need to upgrade the license files.

The uninstallation process is as follows:

  1. You will need to re-download the license file corresponding to the deployment you are about to uninstall. These files have names like License1234_r2.bts. Note that you will need to re-download the file, using a previously downloaded file (that you had used while installing the deployment) may cause undesirable results.
  2. Using the license manager or LumenVox Dashboard (or License Administrator prior to 10.2) uninstall feature, provide it with the re-downloaded license file.
  3. This generates an uninstall key, which you input on the Web site.
  4. Once the key has been entered, the deployment is reset and you may follow the normal license installation process on a brand new machine.

Linux Uninstallation Process

If running 10.2, the LumenVox Dashboard installed on a windows machine may be used to uninstall the license file from a linux machine. If a windows machine is not available for the LumenVox Dashboard, please use the instructions for "10.1 and prior" installation below.

10.2

To use the LumenVox Dashboard,

  1. The LumenVox Manager needs to be installed and run on the machine with the License Server.
  2. The LumenVox Dashboard needs to be installed and run on a windows machine.
  3. Verify that the License Server is running on the machine where licenses are going to be installed.
  4. Go to the Licensing View in the LumenVox Dashboard.
  5. If the machine with the License Server has not already been added to the LumenVox Dashboard's Machine list displayed in the upper frame:
    1. Add the machine with the License Server by right clicking on the upper frame in the Licensing View and selecting Add Machine.
    2. Enter the Machine Name, IP Address and LumenVox Manager Service Port number in the General tab.
    3. Enter the Username and Password in the Security tab if the LumenVox Manager on the machine with the License Server has been set up in authentication mode. The mode can be verified by looking at the configuration settings of the LumenVox manager on the machine with the License Server.
  6. Select the machine with the License Server in the upper frame.
  7. Right click on Licenses in the lower frame and select Uninstall License.
  8. Follow the Licensing Wizard providing it with the location of the re-downloaded license deployment file. These files have names like License1234_r2.bts.
  9. The Licensing Wizard will display an uninstall key. Copy that key and return to your account page at LumenVox.com. You can now enter that value into the Web site to have your license reset.

You may now install this deployment on a different machine if necessary after generating a server ID file from the new machine for upload to the website and then download of the new License Files.

10.1 and prior

If running a 10.1 or prior installation, or if you cannot use the LumenVox Dashboard on a 10.2 installation, run the following command on the machine hosting the licenses:

/usr/bin/lv_license_manager -u /pathtothelicense

Where /pathtothelicense is the full path to the license file you downloaded earlier. So if you downloaded a file called License1234_r2.bts to your /tmp/ directory, you would run the command:

/usr/bin/lv_license_manager -u /tmp/License1234_r2.bts

The lv_license_manager application will return an uninstall key (this key will also be written to the end of a file called LVLicenseUninstall.txt in your current directory).

Copy that key and return to your account page at LumenVox.com. You can now enter that value into the Web site to have your license reset.

You may now install this deployment on a different machine if necessary after generating a server ID file from the new machine for upload to the website and then download the new License Files.
