Job Description — Senior Quality Assurance Software Engineer

The Senior Quality Assurance Software Engineer is responsible for managing the quality assurance and build process of a state-of-the-art, software based, speaker independent speech technology suite running on Windows and Linux. This position requires a candidate with experience in software QA testing, and building installations/RPMs on Windows and Linux. The QA Engineer will also collaborate with the data center operations group to improve internal testing procedures for hosted services and systems.


  • Design test plans, scenarios, scripts, and procedures
  • Develop automated and manual unit, regression and load tests and procedures
  • Conduct historical analyses of test results
  • Manage build and installation process for software releases, including Windows installation packages and Linux RPMs
  • Work effectively within a small team of developers to improve and maintain speech recognition software
  • Responsible for software builds, and maintaining and documenting code repository
  • Maintain installation packages
  • Perform initial debugging procedures by reviewing configuration files, logs, and code pieces to determine breakdown source
  • Interact with customer support and marketing teams to identify new features and potential bugs
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability and functionality
  • Provide technical support during software installation or configuration


  • Solid experience in quality assurance practices and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma)
  • Extensive scripting experience
  • Working knowledge of compiling software and Windows/Linux packaging systems
  • Some C++ coding experience
  • Database/SQL knowledge
  • Linux and Windows OS
  • Able to transfer technical knowledge to peers, management, and novices alike
  • Capable of troubleshooting complex issues involving multiple interrelated systems
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills; ability to perform public speaking/training a plus
  • Knowledge of the Speech Recognition and/or Telephony Software Industry a plus
