Job Description - Linux Software Engineer

Develop an automatic speech recognition application, working primarily in C++ on a variety of Linux distributions. We are looking for a solid C++ programmer who eats, breathes, and sleeps Linux. The ideal candidate will be someone who is not just familiar with Linux, but a real enthusiast for the operating system who knows best practices for Linux development.

Responsibilities

Program primarily in C++
Work effectively with a small team of developers to create, improve and maintain applications that support speech recognition technology
Responsible for maintaining software across multiple Linux distributions
Responsible for packaging our software to work with RPM/YUM, apt-get, and other types of Linux installation solutions
Interact with customer support, QA and marketing teams to identify new features and potential bugs
Full life cycle development including new development, design, maintenance, etc.
Working with customers to solve advanced technical issues related to Linux installations

Knowledge/Skills:

Solid programming experience in C/C++
Experience with cross platform software development a plus
Able to transfer technical knowledge to peers and management, as well as novices
Able to troubleshoot complex issues involving multiple interrelated systems
4+ years experience in Linux software development. Experience with multiple distributions a plus, especially Red Hat (CentOS).
A passion for working with Linux
Previous experience working automatic speech recognition experience, digital signal processing, or related fields a plus, but not required
